The Legal Aid and Society of Palm Beach has been providing legal aid, human resources, and risk management services for over 22 years. Established in 1998, this organization enables clients in the county to access necessary legal resources at no cost or a reduced rate. The non-profit was founded on the principle that everyone should have access to justice regardless of income level or financial situation. The organization offers an array of services, including assistance with preparation and filing of court documents, representation at court hearings, and advice on various legal matters. They also provide pro bono legal services to low-income individuals who are not able to afford attorney fees.
We provide comprehensive advice, counsel, and training to participating organizations, all of which are included in the annual fee. Specifically, we advise participating agencies, upon request, in areas such as those covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Civil Rights Acts, the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA),the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Equal Pay Act, COBRA, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act, Presidential Executive Orders affecting labor relations, and other statutes, regulations and common laws affecting the employer-employee relationship.
We will also provide legal assistance to agencies on a variety of risk management issues, in the area of human resources management, including development of policies and procedures, and provide guidance with board governance issues. In addition, participating agencies will receive unlimited legal assistance with contracts and leases, including negotiations, and disaster preparedness and recovery-related services.
