VANESSA COE

Attorney

Vanessa Coe is an attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County in the Non Profit Legal Assistance Project where she focuses her time advising Non Profit agencies on legal issues in the areas of employment law, human resources, compliance, and board governance. A graduate of Nova Southeastern Law and University of Florida, Vanessa started her career defending the rights of migrant and seasonal guest workers throughout Florida. 

Prior to joining the Non Profit Legal Assistance Project, Vanessa acted as the employment attorney at Legal Aid litigating on behalf of low wage workers in Palm Beach County. Vanessa is licensed to practice in the State of Florida, Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, and the Fourth, Eighth, and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

ANA CASEY

Human Resources Consultant

Ana Casey is a Human Resources Consultant at the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County in the Non Profit Legal Assistance Project where she focuses her time assisting supervising project attorney Vanessa Coe, in advising Non Profit agencies on legal issues in the areas of employment law, and human resources compliance. Ana obtained her Human Resources/Personnel Management degree from Natal Technikon, in Durban, South Africa, and completed a certificate in Human Resource Management from F.A.U., Boca Raton, FL in 1999. Ana began her career in personnel management immediately following college graduation in South Africa, and within a year, moved to Southern California to pursue a passion for travel, and caring for children, by becoming an au-pair, first in San Francisco and later in Laguna Niguel. She eventually settled in South Florida in 1996, where she worked initially as an H.R. Assistant and later as an H.R. Manager for a private engineering firm in Boynton Beach, for a total of 8 years until the company relocated operations to Wisconsin. Just prior to joining the Non Profit Legal Assistance Project in 2003, Ana worked as an H.R. Generalist for Pepsi Co. in Pompano Beach.

Ana also worked simultaneously at Legal Aid, as a project paralegal for a period of 5 years in the Wage Dispute Project, assisting clients with obtaining unpaid wages, under the Fair Labor Standards Act federal law and Florida’s Minimum Wage Law. Ana has a passion for helping people, especially the most vulnerable among us, including ongoing involvement in animal advocacy/animal rescue.
